CREATOR OR CREATION
by David Macy

"Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither power nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, "Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain" - Proverbs 30: 8,9. ""Who changed the truth of God into a lie and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. "Amen " - Rom. 1:25.

It is inherent in man's nature that he will worship some one or something. The majority of our people are worshipping the creation of God rather than the Creator. The worship of things has become a national epidemic, and there seems to be no end in sight. The Lord does bless His children with their material things they need, but when we worship these things and put them first in our lives we are displeasing to our gracious heavenly Father. "Their inward thought is, that, their houses shall continue forever, and their dwelling place, to all generations; they call their lands after their own names" - Psalm 49:11. Pride and a life based on material wealth alone gives people a false sense of security, because they get the idea that their affluence is a permanent condition. They deceive themselves into thinking their "mansions" are castles" will stand indefinitely, and be dwelling places for their future generations. The proud try to insure the fulfillness of their fantasies by adorning their lands and houses wi th their own elite names. "Lo this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his wickedness" - Psalms 52:7. The proud depend on an abundance of richies to give them perfect peace and joy but they are always disappointed sooner or later. An abundance of riches never has made people truly happy, and it never will.
