What Will They Say About You?

A friend of mine died this week. His name was Farris (Boochie) Cooper. Boochie was one of the best Christians that I have ever met. He would do anything for anyone and not want you to tell others about it. He came from a great family of Christian parents and sisters. He was the only boy and had several sisters.

I could tell a lot of funny stories about him helping others, but I will tell only one. Linda was burning some trash in an open field behind the preacher's home at Rogersville. The fire got into some weeds and was rapidly burning. Linda forgot to get the water hose nearby in case it got out of control. Panic time was in full swing. Boochie came by with his tractor. He plowed around the field and kept the fire contained. We laughed many times over the years about that incident.

I would ask Boochie on Sunday if he had to go to work Monday. Without hesitation, he al- ways said, " No, but I get to go to work."

I could tell many other stories about his kindness and love. But the greatest thing about him was that he lived his Christianity every day. When I think of Boochie, I think of a Christian gentleman, kindness, patience, generosity, and love. He loved his family, Nancy his wife, and his two sons, Michael and Shannon.

I hope when I leave this world that I can be thought of as Boochie Cooper is. What will you leave behind? What will people say about you and the way you have lived? Hebrews 11:4 says that Abraham being dead still speaks. His influence is still known and working.
