What is a Dad?

It is so easy to forget to tell people how important they are to us, especially our parents. How I wish I had my parents here to tell them, "I love you." I know many of you feel the same. Of all things I regret in life, the greatest is that neither Linda's parents nor mine were able to see their grandchildren grow up. I know they would be proud to see them as Christian examples.

Fathers worry about failing their families and making the wrong decisions. Bill Cosby said, "if the new American father feels bewildered and even defeated, let him take comfort from the fact that whatever he does in any fathering situation he has a 50% chance of being right." Maybe we need to just try to be the best father we can and pray for forgiveness and under-standing.

What is a Dad?

A dad is someone who
Wants to catch you before you fall
But instead picks you up, Brushes you off,
And lets you try again.

A dad is someone who
Wants to keep you from making mistakes
But instead lets you find your own way,
Even though his heart breaks in silence
When you get hurt.

A dad is someone who
Holds you when you cry,
Scolds you when you break the rules,
Shines with pride when you succeed,
And has faith in you even when you fail.

Dad, you're everything a dad should be and some.
