The following notice was spotted in the Lost & Found section of a local newspaper:

LOST DOG - $50.00 REWARD.

Black and tan dog of poodle and German shepard descent. Has mange and fleas. Left hind leg is missing,  no hair on rump, Blind and recently neutered. Answers to the name of "Lucky".

Do you ever feel like that poor dog? My question is did he wander off or did he escape? What an irony! He I lived a terribly unfortunate life, if you can call it life, and yet has "Luchy" as his name.

He certainly doesn't have much to offer in the way  of companionship or ability, And he absolutely isn't much to look at. In fact it appears that this dog has no redeeming qualities that would make his owner want to recover him.  Some would be thankful to be rid of such a difficult pet.  But the owner wanted him anyway. Go figure!

Come to think of it, "Lucky" is the perfect name for this poor creature. Having no real value to anyone, having no desirable qualities, having nothing to make him appe ar worthy of such devotion and love, "Lucky" is nonetheless  loved, wanted, and missed. He has value to his owner that does not appear to anyone else. To be loved like that, he truly is LUCKY.

Does this all sound somewhat familiar? Romans 5:6-8 "For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

I think that we all could answer to the name, "Lucky".  Don't you?
