Victorious Living:

VICTORY OVER SATAN

Scripture encourages us to be strong and to take up the full armor of God as we seek to stand firm against the schemes of the devil – Eph. 6:10-13. But what happens when Satan lands a punch? The apostles Peter helps us understand what must happen next. He knew the valley well, and he helps us understand how to maintain victory over Satan.

  1. Peter was deeply committed and always wanted to get it right.

·       He walks away from everything allowing Jesus to completely change the course of his life – Luke 5:1-11.

·       He gets out of the boat – Matthew 14:25-32.

·       He claims allegiance – Matthew 16:21-23; Luke 22L28-34.

·       He takes action; albeit misdirected – John 18:10-11.

  1.  Peter always got up, started over and refused to give up

·       Peter stumbled, but he always came back – Matthew 14:30, Luke 22:62.

·       Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost – Acts 2:14-40.

·       Peter’s inspired writings call us to be alert and to persevere – 1 Peter 5:8-11; 2 Peter 3.

·       In restoring Peter, Jesus shows us the way out of the valley – John 21:15-23.

Conclusions:  As we seek victory over Satan, we will stumble at times. From Peter, we see the beauty of returning to God when we’re down. A final glimpse of a courageous apostle – Acts 12:6.
