1) General Statements about hope

1)Our hope must be in God and God alone	Psalm 43:5	For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
2)Hope is a gracious gift from God 2 Thessalonians	2 Thes 2:16	Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
3)Hope that God offers us comes to us through His holy word, scripture	Romans 15:4 15:13	For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
4)Our hope is secured through Christ’s resurrection	1 Peter 1:3	Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

6)A final general principle – God made us a promise and swore and oath regarding our hope.	Hebrews 6:13-20	006:013 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 006:014 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 006:015 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. 006:016 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. 006:017 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 006:018 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 006:019 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 006:020 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

2) Specific aspects of a Christian’s hope

1)We hope in the Gospel	Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
2)We hope in the coming of Jesus	Acts 1:10-11 001:010 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 001:011 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. John 14:1-3 014:001 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 014:002 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.
