Jesus says that we are to \u201cseek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness\u201d (Mt 6:33).Our number one priority in life should be the life to come. We seek heaven by first seeking the righteousness of God. What is God\u2019s righteousness? \u201cFor all your commandments are righteousness\u201d (Ps 119:172). To do the righteousness of God is to do His commandments. We are to be fully devoted to God. Jesus said, \u201cAnd you shall love the Lord with all of your heart, with all of your soul, with all of your mind, and with all your strength\u201d (Mk 12:30). How are we to show our love to God? Jesus said, \u201cIf you love Me you will keep My commandments\u201d (Jn 14:15). We also read. \u201cHe who says, I know Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in Him. But whoever keeps His word; truly the love of God is perfected in him\u201d (1 Jn 2:4-5).

Halfhearted dedication and obedience to the Lord is vain and does one no good. Jesus tells those in Laodicea with this attitude, \u201cI know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish that you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth\u201d (Rev 3:15-16). We must be 100% committed and dedicated to the Lord and to His church. Our goal in life must be to go to heaven. In order to do this we must set our minds on the things above, not on the things of the earth (Col 3:2).
