{"id":3026,"date":"2024-01-14T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-14T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tannerchurchofchrist.org\/new\/?p=3026"},"modified":"2024-01-19T08:28:36","modified_gmt":"2024-01-19T14:28:36","slug":"girding-up-the-loins-of-our-minds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tannerchurchofchrist.org\/new\/girding-up-the-loins-of-our-minds\/","title":{"rendered":"Girding Up the Loins of Our Minds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1 Peter 1:13-15 \u201cTherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Cambridge Dictionary defines the word gird as to tie something around your body or a part of your body in order to prepare or deal with something. The opposite action of girding up our minds is to allow ourselves to be <strong>loose-minded<\/strong> which can set us up to often be unprepared and thoughtless in life. People who are <strong>sloppy-minded<\/strong> have a limited ability to reason and it makes them silly and sometimes too emotional to deal with rationally.
