A child\u2019s attitude towards his dad was once described in this way. At age 4, the child says, \u201cMy daddy can do anything.\u201d At age 7, my daddy knows a lot. A whole lot.\u201d At age 8 he says, \u201cWell my father doesn\u2019t quite know everything.\u201d At age 12 he says, \u201cnaturally, my father doesn\u2019t know that either.\u201d At 14, \u201cMy dad is so hopelessly old fashioned.\u201d Age 21, \u201cThat man is so out of date.\u201d At 25 years, \u201cDad knows a little, but not too much.\u201d At 30 years, \u201cI must find out what dad thinks about this.\u201d At 35 years, before we decide, let\u2019s get dads idea first.\u201d At 50, what would dad have thought about that?\u201d At 60 years, \u201cMy dad knew literally everything.\u201d At 65 years he says, \u201cI wish I could talk it over with dad one more time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A good godly father is so very important in the life of a child, however; this kind of father is becoming few and far between. While the Marine Corps slogan is, \u201cLooking for a few good men,\u201d Our plea as Christians should be, \u201cLooking for a few godly men\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our society is trying to tell us \u201cchildren don\u2019t need a mom and a dad.\u201d They need both because that\u2019s the way God designed it and intended for it to be. The values fathers pass on to their children today, whether sinful or godly, will be passed to future generations, therefore; the potential impact of a godly father is immeasurable! C. H. Spurgeon said \u201cA good character is the best tombstone. Those who love you and were helped by you will remember you.
