{"id":3102,"date":"2022-12-18T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-18T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tannerchurchofchrist.org\/new\/?p=3102"},"modified":"2024-01-18T15:46:48","modified_gmt":"2024-01-18T21:46:48","slug":"the-pit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tannerchurchofchrist.org\/new\/the-pit\/","title":{"rendered":"The Pit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>A man fell into a pit and couldn\u2019t get himself out.<strong> A realist<\/strong> said, \u201cThat\u2019s a pit alright\u201d. <strong>A subjective person <\/strong>came along and said, \u201cI feel for you down in that pit\u201d. <strong>An objective person <\/strong>saw the man and said, \u201cWith so many pits and so many people in the world it\u2019s only logical that someone would fall in one of them\u201d. <strong>A<\/strong> <strong>religionist <\/strong>said, \u201cWe have a committee meeting next Wednesday night at 7:00 at church and we\u2019ll work out a process to get him out of the pit. <strong>A Pharisee <\/strong>looked at the man and said; \u201conly bad people fall into pits\u201d. A <strong>mathematician<\/strong> calculated how he fell into the pit and the speed of his decline. <strong>A self righteous man <\/strong>said, \u201cYou deserve the pit\u201d. <strong>A preacher <\/strong>said, \u201cIf you would have listened to me, you wouldn\u2019t be in the pit\u201d. <strong>The Psychiatrist <\/strong>said, \u201cThe pit is only in your mind\u201d. <strong>The Psychologist <\/strong>said, \u201cYou\u2019re in the pit and it\u2019s your parents fault\u201d. <strong>A Geologist <\/strong>told the man to appreciate the rock strata of the pit. <strong>The Evolutionist <\/strong>said, \u201cNatural selection has destined you to be removed from the evolutionary cycle.
