No matter what subject we are considering, we all see things from a different perspective. Those who grew up in the same region, town, or even the very same house will have much different views of life, relationships, faith, politics, and just about any other topic. Everyone has had their very own personal experiences and varying de- grees of influence from friends and family to education and spirituality. Don’t misunderstand me. I’m not saying that every perspective is absolutely correct. I’m not trying to say that truth is subjective. I still believe God’s perspective is the absolute truth and the best perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, there is room for differing opinions and different ways of teaching and reaching out. Paul and Barnabas didn’t see eye-to-eye on John Mark, went different directions, and still made an amazing impact on the kingdom (Acts 12:25; 13:13; 15:36-39). Romans 14 spends a great deal of time addressing things that were non-essential that people might disagree on, but that we shouldn’t lose our relationships over. Everyone you meet sees something you can’t see and knows something you don’t know. So sit back and listen to their wisdom. Watch their actions and learn a new way of doing things. Give attention to their methods and you just might come away wiser than you think. I love to teach, but I absolutely love to listen to other preachers of the gospel. I gain new knowledge and perspective with each one. Some of them are great ora- tors. Others are fantastic encouragers. And of course, there are always some that might be dry and hard to listen to — but they still have learned things I haven’t learned and experienced life events that I might not have experienced yet. So, I can absolutely learn something from them. I know there are men and women who are so much more intimately acquainted with God’s Word than I am. I know there are good people who will help guide me if I ever find myself moving in a direction that is not best. Perspectives are important. Everyone around you has a different one and everyone around you can teach you something. Please make sure you watch and listen. You will be wiser for it and you will be better because of it. Open your heart and let God do work in your life through the various words and actions of those around you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
