Lesson Overview

1. The prevention of sin begins with our new birth 1 Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

2. The prevention of sin is accomplished trough our abiding in Christ 1J n 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

1 Jn 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

1 Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1 Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1 Jn 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit

3. The prevention of sin is perpetuated when God's word abides in us 1 Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

1 Jn 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

1 Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

4. Sin is prevented when we humble ovey God's commands 1 Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

1 Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1 Jn 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

1 Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

1 Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

1 Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

1 Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1 Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
