Heaven My Home

Our inheritance in heaven is so much more valuable than anything this life has to offer. However; most in the world today fail to see its worth. Our Lord says in (Mt 16:26), “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” Paul said in (2 Cor 5:1-2), “For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven.”

Our inheritance came at a great price, the death of the Son of God on the cross. He purchased our inheritance with His blood (Acts 20:28), which “has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of His dear Son” (Col 1:12-13). We do not earn this inheritance, but in order to receive it we must come to God according to His terms as is stated in the Bible. An inheritance is given to children, so we must be a child of God to receive this inheritance. How do we become a child of God? “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Gal 3:26-27). It is “in Him also we have obtained an inheritance” (Eph 1:11). When we are baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38), we were added to the church (Acts 2:47). As members of His church we are a part of His family (Eph 3:14-15). We are His children and are qualified for the inheritance.

After we have been baptized into Christ the Holy Spirit bears witness that we are His children, “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ” (Rom 8:16-17). We can then “Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven” (Mt 5:12). This inheritance is, “incorruptible and undefiled and does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you” (1 Pet 1:4). I am a child of God and I’m looking forward to my heavenly home! Are you?
