BY THOSE WHO SAW HIM:
- John the Baptist: “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world” (Jn 1:29).
- Nathaniel: “The Son of God!….the king of Israel!” (Jn 1:49).
- Nicodemus: “A teacher come from God” (Jn 3:2).
- The five thousand: “This is truly the prophet who is to come into the world” (Jn 6:14).
- Peter: “Christ, the Son of the living God” (Jn 6:69).
- Thomas: “My Lord and my God” (Jn 20:28).
- Paul: “The blessed and only Potentate, the king of kings and Lord of lords” (1 Tim 6:15).
- John: “Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth” (Rev 1:5).
BY JESUS HIMSELF:
- “I am the bread of life” (Jn 6:35).
- “I am the light of the world” (Jn 8:12).
- “I am the door” (Jn 10:9).
- “I am the good shepherd” (Jn 10:11).
- “I am the resurrection, and the life” (Jn 11:25).
- “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (Jn 14:6).
- “I am the vine” (Jn 15:1).
- “I am” (a declaration that He is eternal, that is, God) (Jn 8:58).
All of these confessions were verified by His life, His death, and His resurrection (Rom 1:4). H.G. Wells said, “I am an historian, I am not a believer, but I must confess as a historian that this penniless preacher from Nazareth is irrevocably the very center of history. Jesus Christ is easily the most dominant figure in all history.”
No one can deny what Mr. Wells said, but who do you confess Jesus to be? I confess what Martha confessed in (Jn 11:27) “I believe that You (Jesus) are the Christ, the Son of God, who is come into the world”.
