“…eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call-one Lord, one Faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:3-6). THERE IS ONE BODY. Unity of Organization: The Church “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many” (1 Corinthians 12:12-14). The one body is the church. “And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body” (Ephesians 1:22-23). THERE IS ONE SPIRIT. Unity of Revelation: The Scripture “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever” (1 Peter 1:22-23). “All Scripture Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). THERE IS ONE HOPE. Unity of Aim: Eternal Life “By two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast” (Hebrews 6:19). “For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience” (Romans 8:24-25). THERE IS ONE LORD. Unity of Authority: Submission To Christ Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18). “Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life” (Revelation 22:14). THERE IS ONE FAITH. Unity of Doctrine: It Was Once Delivered “…contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints”(Jude 3). “Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you” (1 Timothy 4:16). “Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son” (2 John 9). THERE IS ONE BAPTISM. Unity of Induction: Burial For Remission Of Sin Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he can-not enter the kingdom of God” (John 3:3-5). “…do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin” (Romans 6:3-6). THERE IS ONE GOD. Unity of Worship: In Spirit and Truth “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:23-24). “speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:19).
