Jesus says that we are to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Mt 6:33). Our relationship, devotion and service to Jesus should be priority in life. We seek heaven by first seeking the righteousness of God. What is God’s righteousness? “For all your commandments are righteousness” (Ps 119:172). To do the righteousness of God is to do His commandments. We are to be fully devoted to God. Jesus said, “And you shall love the Lord with all of your heart, with all of your soul, with all of your mind, and with all your strength” (Mk 12:30). How are we to show our love to God? Jesus said, “If you love Me you will keep My commandments” (Jn 14:15). We also read. “He who says, I know Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in Him. But whoever keeps His word; truly the love of God is perfected in him” (1 Jn 2:4-5). Obedience and a life lived for Jesus is the result of our love for Him.
Halfhearted dedication and obedience to the Lord is useless and does one no good. Jesus tells those in Laodicea with this attitude, “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish that you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth” (Rev 3:15-16). We must be 100% committed and dedicated to the Lord and to His church. Let’s commit to faithfully serve God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength.
